The measuring tasks are continous measurement of gas and dust concentrations as well as volume flow measurement in the ducts and level monitoring in the silos. The tasks can be quite complex at certain measuring points: The high temperatures and dust concentrations of the measured gas as well as the humidity content and alkali compounds mean that specially developed techniques for extracting and preparing the sample gas must be used at some measuring points. Careful and expert sampling planning and analyzer selection is therefore essential to secure high operational reliability and accurate measuring results.

Measuring devices are required to determine gas concentrations, dust concentrations and gas flow values as well as levels. Where necessary they will be completed by suitable equipment for sample gas extraction and preparation, system control and data recording, evaluation and documentation. Part of the equipment is used for emission control purposes. In this case in many countries the devices must be especially tested and certified by the local authorities for this application.
